COPE and the 2020 August Primary

With a fast-approaching primary on August 11, the UFAS Committee on Political Education (COPE) has reached out to candidates running for State Senate and Assembly in the Madison area to share our Future of our University: Solidarity not Austerity statement. We asked candidates to review the statement and indicate whether they support it. Candidates were also encouraged—optionally—to share the statement on their social media accounts.

Candidates have another week to respond, but because many people are voting absentee, we wanted to share with you which candidates have responded so far, and whether they have indicated strong (**) or general (*) support for the UFAS statement. We'll be regularly updating the list of candidates who support the statement as we hear back from them and will also send out updated information on August 1 to all members. If you have any questions, feel free to contact COPE’s Chair Angela Kita at ufas223@gmail.com.

If you're interested in getting more involved, COPE meets on the first and third Tuesday of every month.

And remember, there's still time to register to vote!
